Dog Friendly Bury St Edmunds
In 2018 a scheme was set up in Bury St Edmunds to promote all of the businesses who welcome dogs and their owners to their premises.
The Dog Friendly scheme was very well received, and very quickly, dog bowls were appearing outside shops around the town. This was not confined to the centre of town, but to the town as a whole. I like that inclusivity of it all.
I seem to recall this was the idea of Jon Kay from Camp Tails Doggy Daycare.
Over the past few years though, information has been slow coming out from the Bury St Edmunds Town Council. The Town Council have a list on their website, however, this is showing businesses which no longer exist. It is also apparent that businesses seem to have forgotten about being on that list.
As an owner of two dogs myself, I have noticed that less and less bowls are outside stores now. Even today I saw a bowl outside which was dry and unattended. Other times I have seen bowls which have been dirty with dirty water in.
So, in an effort to revive this, eXploreburystedmunds.com now enables all businesses who have claimed their listings to add this feature to their entry. This will enable you to find places where you can take your pooches where they will be welcomed.
Be very aware of dirty bowls and the use of these bowls in general as infections can be easily be transferred from dog to dog.
