Something for sure, the Our Bury St Edmunds BID they don’t spend it on keeping the streets clean, not the best way to be welcoming visitors to the town.
The Our Bury St Edmunds BID, which many of you still refer to as BID for Bury, collect around £440,000pa from businesses in the Town Centre. The aim is to help the businesses to perform their jobs better, however, part of this must also include keeping the town looking good. This is where the BID fails. Broken, plasticated signs clinging desperately to lamp posts. Nasty, non-recyclable stickers, messy streets with bird mess. Now wouldn’t it be a worthwhile way to spend money by cleaning the streets, and not having these awful signs everywhere?
In a town such as Bury St Edmunds, we rely heavily on the character of the town, which often harks back to times past, so lamp post wraps, only make the town look cheap and nasty.
