We Are Sound, the name of the musical ensemble with Andrea Cockerton at the helm. Andrea is a lady from Bury St Edmunds who does extraordinary things. She studied, as a lot of us did, at The County Upper School. She has fond memories of her time there, and of the teachers who laid a path for her.
But a lot can happen in a few years, and Andrea is back in town. She will be bringing with her almost 120 musicians and singers in what sounds like an amazing event. Andrea brings Burst to St Johns Church on 8th July to celebrate 175 years since the church was consecrated.
Having done some research, I discovered that Andrea has travelled with her music, from London to Africa and the Canary Islands! But now she comes home to Bury St Edmunds.
I caught up with Andrea at our old school, and wanted to know more.. This is Andrea Cockerton!

On Saturday 8th July, I’m (Andrea Cockerton, bringing my acclaimed musical collective to Bury St Edmunds as part of the St John’s Festival. Reviewed by the press as a ‘harmonic phenomenon bursting onto the scenes like a firecracker’ and ‘nothing short of brilliant’, this 100 strong musical collective climbs into, flips upside down, and turns inside out brilliant tracks by brilliant bands in ways you have never heard before… it’s unpredictable, brilliantly chaotic, and euphoric.
