December is approaching at an alarming rate, and as usual, at WLBSE Towers, we are gearing up for the 2nd anniversary of We Love Bury St Edmunds.
I can hardly believe that its been 2 years since, I thought what a good idea it would be to create a Facebook group for our town. It’s funny, I did a search on Facebook before setting up WLBSE and couldn’t locate anything which celebrated the diversity, colour and enthusiasm so many have for our wonderful town.
Radio Suffolk & Zackfm
As you probably know, we have featured in the newspapers many times over the past 2 years, and also on Radio Suffolk and Zackfm based in Mildenhall. The Bury Free Press, the Bury Mercury and the East Anglian Daily Times, as well as the 2 aforementioned radio stations, have been hugely supportive of our efforts to project the best possible image of Bury.
The Brotherhood of Man
So much so that last year, we held our first-anniversary party. The Brotherhood of Man, who had won Eurovision only 40 years previously were our star act, and they took the roof off at Ashlar House. The star of the show though was a special friend from the United States, a naturalised Irish lady, Kristin Kapelli.
Kristin Kapelli
Kristin, warmed the audience up very quickly with her sharp humour, her great singing, and also her dancing with Ming, from the restaurant in Abbeygate Street. Great news… She is coming back, and very excited about it too.
We cracked it, we raised £500 for our chosen charities, My WiSH for the West Suffolk Hospital and North Court Care Home.
And so what of this years party?
This year is bigger and more full-on than last years. We have secured an amazing 5 Acts to entertain you.
Paul Da Vinci Plus BAND!
Paul Da Vinci, the original voice of the Rubettes hit, Sugar Baby Love is bringing a full band with him from Somerset. Paul is undergoing a massive resurgence and is busier than he has ever been, being visited by record producers from around the world. We are SO lucky to be having him come to Great Whelnetham to perform for us. He was ALSO featured in the East Anglian Daily Times recently, with a superb article about his career.
Pauls shows are an explosion of entertainment, and you will love it.
Jacquii Cann
Jacquii Cann is an extraordinary lady. In 1993 she appeared on the TV show, Stars In Their Eyes, as Alison Moyet, and this lady beat all of the competition and easily won. Close your eyes, and Alison is there.
Sarah Probert
Sarah Probert seems to have appeared out of nowhere this year. I first saw Sarah at the Relay For Life at Nowton Park, and I was transfixed by her singing. Sarah loves music from the 1940s’ and 1950s, spanning songs as diverse as hits by the Andrew Sisters, to some amazing Rock n Roll. These are the songs and tunes that will make you want to get up and dance the night away.
Marea Smithson
Marea is a very shy lady but comes alive in front of an audience, she is going to blow you away with her amazing impressions. She is definitely NOT the weakest link, I am very proud to be hosting Marea at A Night 2 Remember 2.
As if that isn’t enough, there is a full buffet, first drink free, and quite a few surprises lined up. you cannot afford to miss this one!
