I must admit when the BBC aired the comedy-drama Lovejoy in 1986 it didn’t capture my imagination. Well, I was twenty-two back then and that kind of TV show had no appeal to me whatsoever.
Recently, however, I have rediscovered it. Is it because I am now that much older? Could be? Most likely it is my appreciation and passion for all things Bury St Edmunds.
So, as you do, I search the internet for Lovejoy. I started with YouTube and found a few clips here and there. I then stumbled upon Daily Motion. One of its users has uploaded nearly all of the 71 episodes. Wow, what a goldmine of Suffolk nostalgia.
I mentioned earlier that the first series aired in 1986. The second series had to wait another five years and it was followed by another four series making six in total.
So I have created this list with all of the online episodes I could locate. Incidentally, I have also found that the Drama Channel on UKTV Play is also airing them. I checked out the second episode on Drama, but having watched the episode also on the Daily Motion link, the TV episodes have been clipped down, probably to get more adverts in!
