Clarifying the Truth About the Lantern / Gaslight Tayfen Road Development
The Lantern / Gaslight Tayfen Road development application was submitted to our local authority, now known as West Suffolk Council. Contrary to what some council members and others have claimed, the Council did not make a decision on the application in a timely manner. As a result, the developer decided to appeal.
During the appeal process, the Council chose not to defend their position, and instead, they stated that they would have approved the application. Consequently, the inspector granted the appeal. Following this, another application for the same development was submitted, which ultimately reached the Development and Control Planning Committee. The Council approved this new application.
It is worth noting that the developer sought to recover costs as well. It is uncertain whether the inspector would have still approved the application if the Council had chosen to defend the appeal.
