Tales From The Drift
Fornham St Martin
My Mum was born and lived in Fornham St Martin for numerous and she lived with my Nan and Grandad in the Red House (still there to this day). It was here that she met my dad who was stationed in the area during WW2. I spent numerous holidays down in Fornham and this is where I found the Drift in the village. In those days it was a wonderful open space of fields and woodland and an old disused railway line and I had numerous walks with my dog there over the years.
It was of course inhabited by numerous animals, including Foxes, Badgers, Rabbits etc. and it was these in recent years that gave me the inspiration to bring those
characters to life.
In April 2021 I retired after 31 years working for Volvo in Warwick.
A few months earlier I had written a children’s adventure story for my four grandchildren. I was persuaded to try and get it published and much to my
amazement, five publishers offered to do it!
So a matter of weeks after retiring, my first book, Tales from the Drift- Perils of the Treasure Map, appeared on Amazon.
In the book we meet Rollie, Toby, Rowan, and Donie who are close friends living in the Drift. One cold frosty morning they discover Toby has gone missing and his house has been turned upside down. His three friends (with others in the Drift) must try and find out why he has disappeared and, what is the mysterious treasure map, which he has with him?
The Second Book
The second book, Tales from the Drift Vol 2, Perils of the Codebreaker was published in December 2021. This again sees our heroes investigating a worrying
message in a bottle found in the river, with the words ‘Help me’ written. Is there someone really missing- Rollie finds a mysterious code that he must crack before
two fiendish adversaries can discover its true meaning.
Both books are available on Amazon with the 2nd book also available from Waterstones etc.
The Third Book
The third book in the series, ’The Unseen Enemy’ has just been completed and hopefully will also be published in the near future.
The response to the books has been positive and children seemed to have fallen in love with the characters.
