PADEL TENNIS COMING SOON!
Risbygate Sports Club was granted planning permission to build two padel tennis courts a while back, and work to construct those courts is about to commence shortly, with a planned launch date of the August bank holiday weekend.
What is Padel Tennis?
Padel is an exciting sport, the fastest growing in Europe.
It is not a new game, but was ‘invented’ in Mexico in the late 1960s. Since then Padel has expanded dramatically throughout the world and is getting a foothold in the UK. Risbygate Sports Club intends to be the foremost facility for Padel in Bury St Edmunds.
A friendly, local club, we are tucked away behind the houses on Westley Road and actively welcome new members.
We have four tennis courts, two of which are floodlit, A super outdoor bowls green, a 4 rink indoor bowls hall, with recently replaced carpet and LED lighting to international standards, two squash courts and a petanque terrain.
We also offer a very reasonable social membership (which includes petanque) with access to our well-stocked club bar.
Membership rates are competitive, and free ‘taster’ sessions for all our sports can be easily arranged.
We have a large function room and smaller meeting room, both of which are available for public hire, and we host several local organisations including The Milkmaid Folk Club, The Ukulele Players of Bury St Edmunds, Seasons Art Class, Bury Folk Collective and others.
So, whether you’re an experienced bowler, a resting squash player, want to brush up on your tennis skills, or just fancy having a go at one of our sports, come and see us at Risbygate Sports Club! We’re waiting to welcome you.
