Remembering the ‘old days’ is a favourite pastime in which we all indulge. For many, those days are recreated so eloquently at Harriets Cafe Tearooms, where the true quality of service from ‘yesteryear’ is at the centre of everything
If it’s breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea, Harriets has much to offer. All our dishes are made on the premises, many to family recipes, using UK sourced ingredients. Indulge in a freshly cooked breakfast or simply pop in for leaf tea and handmade cakes!
Harriets Cafe Tearooms can be found in Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, and Norwich City Centres and are fully licensed, with outside seating also available in the summer months. Waitresses wear period uniforms and serve you promptly in elegant surroundings. Our tearooms have regular live piano music to accompany you, in addition to welcoming children and having good disabled and pushchair access.
The essence of what has been carefully created in the tearooms is now encapsulated in a private and business buffet service. Exceptional daily platters of sandwiches, cakes and savouries can be pre-ordered for a business lunch, private party, wedding or any other special occasion. If you want your family, friends, clients and customers to know you really do care about quality, then Harriet’s platters are for you!
Our tearoom in Bury St Edmunds was opened in 2001 and has become an immensely popular destination for residents and visitors alike. Positioned in a central location within the old town, we are conveniently located for amenities such as car parks and both independent and high street shops, as well as the historical attractions of the cathedral and the abbey ruins.
Set within one of the old Cornhill buildings (circa 1900) the tearoom benefits from a grand entrance and high ceilings adorned with chandeliers, with a pianist playing on selected afternoons to add to the ambience. Full of history and charm, the building has been used as a library and part of an old fire station in years past and has had many retail uses since.
