They’re planting in the Abbey Gardens
They’re planting in the Abbey Gardens,
men with backs bent,
plants are hardened,
trowels in hand,
plants in profusion,
ready for the summer explosion.
Now they can be planted out,
no fear of frosts being about.
A plan has been devised for planting,
now the gardeners are starting,
Thousands of plants it will take,
for the summer show to make.
Fuchsias, geraniums,
petunias as well,
the latter giving such a sweet smell.
All are planted in neat beds
All are planted in neat beds
lawns all trimmed with neat cut edge.
So we give the gardeners praise,
for enhancing our summer days.
Sit in the gardens such delight,
glorying in this fantastic sight,
Simple pleasures can be found,
in this jewel in Bury’s crown.
