Platinum Dance Academy is the first dance school based in Bury St Edmunds that specialises in Street Dance. Starting as just 1 class in July 2010 we have gone from strength to strength and now offer classes from 4 years up to and including adults.
Founder and coach Lorna Thompson prides herself on teaching engaging and energetic classes that focus on the foundations of Street Dance. Styles include: Locking, Waacking, Hip Hop, House, Voguing, Breaking, and Dance Hall.
P.D.A dancers have gone on to qualify for the UDO World Street Dance Championships for 6 years running. We have competed and performed across the country and held workshops with some of the best in the industry including Jasmine Meakin, Diversity, Twist & Pulse, Lukas McFarlane, Josh Pilmore just to name a few…
Every year P.D.A puts on a unique full company performance at a local theatre that all of our dancers from infants to adults are welcome to take part in. We also offer in house examinations yearly followed by an awards evening.
We also offer lessons in contemporary dance from beginners to the more experienced and have also recently introduced acro classes which are a huge hit already! Acro classes follow the internationally known Acrobatic Arts syllabus, suitable for all ages and levels.
All classes are held at our beloved studio on Eastgate Street Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, Ip33 1YW
Most of our classes do hold a waiting list so please get in touch if you would like to be added to it.
