Painted Country

Although we had always enjoyed ‘interiors’ and ‘paint effects’ on walls and furniture as far back as the early ‘80’s, our ‘real’ painted furniture story began in 2008 after doing a workshop in Oxford with Annie Sloan.

We subsequently became one of the first stockists of her Chalk Paint in the UK and used it from thereon in on just about everything.

We are still, to this day, enthusiastic about our little emporium and continue to help people with their interiors projects, whether they are looking to buy a piece from the shop, commission us to paint something they already or have a go themselves – Painted Country is all about the paint…

Having bought chalk paint, joined in workshops, purchased furniture and sought out advice many times at Painted Country, I would thoroughly recommend you pay a visit. This fabulous shop is a great visit for both large and small gifts as well as for help, advice and beautiful furniture for your own home. The owners are skilled and knowledgable and have helped with sound recommendations on projects I am undertaking myself. I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

Bury St Edmunds is very lucky to have this beautiful, long established and unique shop run with care and thought. It offers wonderful painted furniture and they do commissions including painted kitchens. . Lovely owners and completely dependable

This dear little shop is a place of delights! From large items to teeny tiny ones, all are beautifully presented, painted in innovative and clever colour ways. The owners are very helpful and also fun! I have great difficulty in visiting and leaving with nothing purchased!

I’ve only recently discovered Painted Country and have been into the store a few times now. It’s full of beautiful furniture and treasures, and the owners have created a warm and welcoming environment. It’s always a pleasure to go inside. Always great customer service plus the sense that the owners, not only really know their stuff, but also care. I can’t rate it highly enough.
